Thursday at the Mall of America, gunshots were fired into a crowded store, police said.Bloomington Police Chief Booker Hodges says no one was wounded. His store was "packed."

"We saw two groups fight at the Nike store pay register on camera," Hodges said. "After the altercation, one group fled but showed no respect for human life. They shot into a crowded store."

According to Hodges, young adults fled the scene and just one individual fired three shots."Surrender," he said. "If you don't, our officers, colleagues, and detectives will lock you up," he threatened.

Hodges said police believe this is an isolated event with no public danger.Mall of America went into lockdown following the incident and closed for the day; it will reopen on Friday.

The 30-year-old mall has 500 retailers, Nickelodeon Universe, 50 restaurants, dozens of activities, and two hotels, according to its owners.The mall is 10 miles south of Minneapolis in Bloomington.
